About The Touch

I Can't Live Alone

Track Time: 3:59

I struggle with both a strong need for intimate connection and a strong need to be independent. I get the two mixed up and tend to think they have to be mutually exclusive. As the song says, “I'm trying… I'm trying…”

I wrote this right before we started the recording process. I felt I needed a second ballad on the CD and didn’t have one so I came up with this a couple of days before we did the bass and drum tracks. Whew, just in the nick of time! Kelley Hunt put the first track on it after the bass and drums were recorded. She really gave it a gospel feel that seemed to inspire Miles Joseph and Charlie Wood’s contributions. Once we had the whole thing done, we dropped Kelley’s piano track to give it a more “air”. The paradox is that Kelley created the whole feel of the song and she’s not on it. Thank you Kelley! (Who, by the way, is the most professional, enthusiastic, positive, and cooperatively collaborative person I have ever met in my life.)

Charlie Wood (Pictured) plays a great organ solo on this one!!!
